After weeks of anticipation, shifting ice, and plenty of hopeful guesses, the Salem Lakes Ice Melt Contest has officially come to a close. At precisely 7:57:03 PM on April 4, 2026, the Titanic marker made its long-awaited plunge through the ice—signaling the end of this year’s contest.

Thanks to the incredible participation from our community, a total prize pool of $588.00 was raised through ticket sales. We’re pleased to announce that this year’s winner is Marti Spezialetti, whose guess of 6:03 PM on April 4 came remarkably close - just under two hours from the official sinking time. Her sharp instincts and well-timed prediction earned her the top spot.

A big thank you to everyone who took part in this fun seasonal tradition. Your enthusiasm is what makes events like this such a success year after year. And another big thank you to Marti who's going to donate her half of the pot right back to the association to help support our stewardship programs.

We look forward to seeing everyone back for next year’s melt (preferably sooner as the thaw continues).Congratulations again to Martha, and we look forward to seeing everyone back for next year’s melt! melt!
