Winter may have Salem Lakes in its icy grip, but spring is quietly making plans — and now you can too.

Join the first-ever Ice Melt Competition at Salem Lakes, a lighthearted fundraiser benefiting the incredible work of the Salem Lakes Preservation Association.

Here’s how it works:

Make your best guess on the exact date and time the ice finally gives way — then sit back, watch the thaw, and cheer on Mother Nature. The winner takes home half of the total cash pot, the other half will be put on ice with the association and help fund our stewardship programs and lake management projects.

The winning ticket will be determined by the closest date and time selection made in advance. We're already set up with a live lakeside marker that's been placed offshore near the 4H road. When the great thaw happens, the marker will fall and we'll have a time stamp on record. A winner will be notified by email and announced on our website and social media. 

Don't wait! Times and dates will go fast. You must purchase your ticket and enter your guess no later than April 15, 2026 to be eligible to play the game.
